Seeing a lack of quality kids apps in the AppStore we were inspired to produce The Animals of Mossy Forest, a new iPad app for pre-school children. Our goal was to create an interactive experience that felt more authentic and traditional than the typical low budget kids apps…more like a book than an app. We commissioned Alexandra Ball to illustrate the beautiful plates for the app and then had our animators create sophisticated but subtle animations for those scenes and animal characters. We then added Rennie Griffiths’ lovely voice as the narrator and some bespoke sound effects for the animals. Developed in Xcode the result is has been very exciting, with Mossy Forest reaching the number one spot in 7 countries in the Books category, not to mention the top 10 list in 21 countries. Not bad for our first attempt!
